The Oil Ocean Refinery is located in the Great Desert of Mobius and is a facility belonging to the Eggman Empire. It is maintained by Grandmaster Beauregard Rabbot's chapter of the Dark Egg Legion; they also protect it from the Sand-Blasters, the Freedom Fighters from nearby Sand Blast City who seek the refinery for themselves. Due to the actions of Sonic the Hedgehog and Bunnie "Rabbot" D'Coolette, the refinery suffered heavy damage, rendering it unusable for the time being. (StH: #218)

It would be later revealed that the refinery was fueled to power the new Death Egg, along with the refueling station in Northern Tundra (StH: #224, #225)

The Oil Ocean Refinery is visually inspired by the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 stage, Oil Ocean.
