A Marriage, or a Wedding, is a ceremonial practice in which two individuals are committed into living a life together, usually in the eyes of a higher, religous-based power. Marriage is a common practice on Mobius and its various alternate reality counterparts, usually performed in a religious setting, though non-religious individuals still take part in a religious ceremony for the sake of tradition. The traditions and principles often very between communities: for instance, Echidna couples are joined in the eyes of Aurora, while most other Mobian individuals are married under the eyes of the Ancient Walkers. It's unknown how a marriage between an echidna and a non-echidna (i.e. Rob o' the Hedge and Mari-An) is performed.
Some individuals do not feel the need to marry and continue to live a life together regardless, this is usually referred to as a Common-Law relationship, as the two are still committed to each other in the eyes of the law. Members of the Dark Legion didn't see marriage as necessary.
Individuals who are set to be married in the near-future are referred to as Engaged.
Not all marriages are life-lasting, as it is always a possibility for the couple to grow apart. This usually results on the marriage ending in a Divorce.

- So far only one instance of a common-law relationship has been seen in the series, this being between the Light Mobius versions of Knuckles and Julie-Su.
- All of the marriages shown in the comic so far have been between opposite sex couples (one male and one female). Ian Flynn confirmed on his forum that he believes that LGBT (homosexual, bisexual, transsexual/gender, et el.) individuals exist on Sonic's world like in the real world, and that they are all treated equally. With this in mind, it can be assumed that same-sex marriage also takes place on Sonic's World.
