Summary
Edit
Story One
Edit
- "The Chaos Effect"
The Knothole Freedom Fighters, Substitute Freedom Fighters (minus Larry Lynx and Cyril), and Geoffrey St. John join a crowd of Mobians in visiting a new amusement park on the Floating Island. A disgruntled Knuckles protests being included in the group, only for them to be greeted by Renfield T. Rodent. Tricked into entering the house of mirrors, the Freedom Fighters are imprisoned, while Knuckles is stripped of his enhanced abilities. Left a helpless witness to Robotnik's triumph, Knuckles soon encounters other Mobians not entrapped by Robotnik: Charmy Bee, Espio the Chameleon, Vector the Crocodile, Mighty the Armadillo, and former Robotnik minions Heavy and Bomb. The two robots reveal the source of Robotnik's power: Power Gems, magical jewels with special abilities. Turning on park rides to distract Robotnik, the group inadvertently alerts Robotnik to the presence of multiple enemies. In response, he dispatches Mecha Sonic, who uses a Power Gem to grow to immense size after taking a beating from the heroes. Knuckles undergoes a growth spurt of his own, and the ensuing battle frees the Freedom Fighters and restores Knuckles' powers. Renfield is then captured while Robotnik flees, and despite their objections to becoming a team, Sonic dubs Knuckles and his new allies "the Chaotix."
Story Two
Edit
- "Tag! You're it!"
A bored Charmy convinces Mighty to join him in a game of tag, leading him to drag Vector into it as well. Espio is also tagged, but unwittingly stumbles across a stranger who teleports away.
Story Three
Edit
- "The Hunt is On"
Knuckles comes running to Mighty,Charmy and Vector and tells them they are under attack. Vector falls into a pit while the rest try to get him out, but Vector tells them he's ok for a while. Suddenly they hear a noise that turns out to be flying explosives. Mighty and Knuckles duck just in time but Charmy is hit by the explosion and is knocked out on a bush. Mighty asks if this is Dr. Robotnik's work, but Knuckles believes it may be someone else called Archimedes. Mighty, puzzled, realizes that Knuckles noticed Espio running behind them (even though he was invisible). Once they notice Espio become visible, they become even more confused when Espio says that he was NOT behind Knuckles. Regardless, they have no choice but to leave Charmy behind while they try to find Archimedes. Out of nowhere, a fighting robot attacks Mighty and they both duke it out while Espio and Knuckles leave them. Both Mighty and the robot are beaten and Mighty faints from exhaustion. While Knuckles tries to figure out the mysterious Archimedes' motives amongst some ruins and where he might be, Espio is kidnapped by a mysterious figure. Knuckles turns around and realizes Espio is gone. At that point, a voice calls out to Knuckles, saying he should have been thinking a lot harder. The voice then asks him what is more important: his friends, or the threat to the Floating Island?
