The Piranha is a Badnik variant created by Dr. Eggman. As its name implies, it is a fish-based Badnik with sharp teeth.
History[]
A number of Piranha and other Badniks were left behind on Isolated Island following a thwarted operation of Eggman's, and were modified by Dr. Ellidy to help him maintain the island. When the evil computer virus Phage infiltrated Ellidy's systems, she took control of all the Badniks to aid in her attack. Several Piranna were charged with guarding the island's Lake of Rings, and tried to prevent Tails and Big the Cat from obtaining the Chaos Emerald that had landed in it. They then joined the Badniks and Dark Gaia's Minions attacking the pair, but were later freed by Phage's defeat. (VG: KC; SU: #71, #72, #73, #74)
Background Information[]
- In the video game Piranha debuted in, Knuckles' Chaotix, the robot was yellow instead of red. It is possible in the comics it was mistaken as another similar Badnik such as Chopper, Masher, or even Jaws, who was colored red in early issues despite being pink in the games. With Bombbearer being colored yellow in the comics and red in the game series, it is also possible the colors were accidentally swapped.
