Octobot was one of Dr. Ivo Robotnik's Sub-Bosses created to spread his reign underwater. He has a deep rooted hatred for Tails.
History[]
First Encounter[]
After Jaws failed to keep Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails, and Rotor from trashing an underwater waterproof Roboticizer, Robotnik built another eight, and commissioned Octobot to man this base. This new officer made a mistake by soaking a seagull in crude oil, and failing to stop its escape. Tails found the seagull, learned about the roboticizer eight-pack, and used the oil to start his submarine, the Sea Fox. Its test run consisted of drilling Octobot, and destroying all eight roboticizers with one torpedo. Octobot swore revenge. (STT)
Attempted Revenge[]
After accidently locating a list of supplies meant for Crocbot in Downunda, Tails found a blimp containing the supplies. Unfortunately, Octobot ambushed Tails, totalled the Sea Fox, and tried to drown Tails. However, a tip from the Plankton Intelligence Agency led the Forty Fathom Freedom Fighters to ambushing Octobot with Ray rescuing Tails. Octobot nearly fled the scene, but Big Fluke smashed it. Retreat from Territory[]
Later, Octobot is panicked by the presence of Eel Capone as it scared him away from his territory. P.B. Jellyfish saw Octobot flee with suitcases. (SMM).
Rebuilt as Croctobot[]

Much later, Dr. Eggman decided that he should merge Crocbot and Octobot into Croctobot. The combined form has the upper half of Crocbot fused to the top of Octobot's head. It is possible that the two robots minds are in tandem, as they speak in unison. It is possible that Octobot's personality was merged with Crocbot's as it/they did not express Crocbot's treasonous tendencies (yet). It did not matter as its/their first battle against Sonic, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Scourge the Hedgehog was a disasterous battle, as it/they were destroyed again. (StH: #160, #161)
