Burrobot is a mole-based Badnik variant created by Dr. Ivo Robotnik. Its specialty is digging with its drill-nose.
History[]
Early Battles[]
Burrobot was first seen underground guarding one of the Freedom Emeralds that Robotnik had acquired. When Sonic the Hedgehog fell into his lair after being tricked by a SWATbot, Burrobot noticed him attacked. Sonic kept Burrobot away by running in circles causing him to become dizzy and drop the emerald. (OSM: #2)
Burrobot was then instructed to plant Krudzu seeds in the Great Forest to root out the Knothole Freedom Fighters, but the plant-short circuited in a thunder storm, and Burrobot was thrown in a robot disposer. (StH: #1)
Later, Burrobot was enlarged in an attempt to destroy the Knothole Freedom Fighters. Burrobot almost ran over Sonic, but Bunnie Rabbot pulled him under the tree strump just in time, and tossed Burrobot upside down. While Burrobot was trying to turn himself upright, Sonic dug a deep fissure around the Burrobot, whose weight caused the trench to collapse on itself, burreing the Burrobot but not himself. (StH: #3)
A normal sized Burrobot was then used in an assault at a former park turned into a toxic dump. Burrobot tried to drill Tails and accidently stuck its nose into a barrel of acid. He was later part of an invasion to stop Sonic and Sally's wedding, before Robtnik realized that it was only a play. He wasn't seen until later when Sonic went to look for Nack the Weasel in the Robo-Hobo Jungle.Burrobot was one of the many badniks that attacked sonic, but was beaten again. (StH: #7, #18, #40)
Later Battles[]
Burrobot wasn't seen again until Sonic decided to visit the Island of Misfit Badniks. Like the other Badniks, he was smashed to pieces. Eventually, Pseudo Sonic arrived and decided to settle his fight with a "Bighorn Challenge." The vibration that they created sunk the island with the badniks still on it. When they tried to repair Pseudo Sonic, Burrobot discovered a Ratio Redoubler, similar to the one that made an older Burrobot a giant. They tried using it to enlarge Pseudo Sonic, but the Forty Fathom Freedom Fighters interfered, and Burrobot had to finish repairs himself. He succeeded, but when Pseudo Sonic awoke he knocked away all the Badniks and the Freedom Fighters before Big Fluke smashed everyone, including Burrobot, into a cube. (StH: #170, #185)
Worlds Collide[]
During Dr. Eggman and Dr. Wily's operation in the Skull Egg Zone, a Burrobot could be seen fighting with a Chao resembling a Mettaur while a Mettaur looked on. (SU: #53)
Appearance[]
Early models of the Burrobot created by Dr. Ivo Robotnik have a blue body consisting of a round torso and a large yellow head with round white eyes and black pupils and a large grey cone-shaped drill bit for a nose. On their head they wear a red hard hat. Their round shoulders are yellow and red, and their two arms are grey with round yellow hands each consisting of three grey sharp fingers. As legs, they have tracked wheels on each side, which runs between two wheels; one is small and one is bigger.
Later models of the Burrobot created by Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik could be seen in the Skull Egg Zone. They have a blue body consisting of a round torso and a large head with round white eyes and black pupils, grey disks for ear pieces and a large grey cone-shaped drill bit for a nose. On their head they wear a yellow hard hat. Their chest is grey, their shoulders are yellow and round, and their two arms are grey with three sharp fingers on each hand. The Burrobots' specialty is digging with their drill-nose. Early models of the Burrobot created by Dr. Ivo Robotnik could also shoot lasers from their hands.
Background Information[]
- Burrobot is based on the like-named badnik (known as Mogurin in Japan) from the Genesis and Game Gear Game Sonic the Hedgehog. Wheras the game version was red, blue, and grey, comic Burrobot was yellow and blue with a red cap (that is detachable in the comics). Burrobot's Genesis counterpart lurks underground with its nose sticking out, popping out of the ground when approached, and appears in Labyrinth Zone and Scrap Brain Zone. The Game Gear version just rolls back and forth, but turns into a jumping fool on approach, and is only found in Labyrinth Zone. Comic Burrobot does not appear to be capable of jumping. A similar robot, with the Game Gear version's abilities, appeared in Gimmick Mountain Zone in the Game Gear Game, Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Another similar badnik is Grounder.
