The Egg Phoenix was a massive flying machine made by Dr. Eggman with pyrotechnic capabilities. Its only use was to counterattack the Freedom Fighters and Chaotix when they began their assault on the Eggdome. While the Egg Phoenix seemed to be on the verge of winning due to its power, it was quickly defeated by the combined efforts of the Freedom Fighters and Chaotix by using Neutralizing Mines.
The Egg Phoenix was created by Dr. Eggman in his Eggdome on the day Sonic the Hedgehog took Scourge to be arrested in the No Zone. Upon its first test made by Snively Robotnik, the Egg Phoenix's readouts showed its capabilities to be well above what Eggman had expected, much to his pleasure. (StH: #197)
First and Only Mission
The next day, the Freedom Fighters and Chaotix stormed the outside of the ruins of New Megaopolis and successfully managed to disarm the Dark Egg Legion under the command of Lien-Da using Neutralizing Mines. Armed with flamethrowers on its "feet" as well as missiles, the Egg Phoenix soon came on to the battlefield piloted by Eggman and proved to be a match for the two Freedom Fighter groups after attacking them in a wave of fire, almost incinerating both them and the Dark Egg Legion in the process. After the Freedom Fighters ran for cover from the Egg Phoenix, Sally then came up with the plan of having Sonic, Vector, Knuckles, Tails and Bunnie use teamwork to lead the Egg Phoenix straight up into the air to make it stall out. With the fires out on the Egg Phoenix, Saffron, Charmy and Ray planted Neutralizing Mines on the craft's hull allowing Tails to deactivate them, causing the vessel to crash and blow up, but not before Eggman escaped in his Egg Mobile. The Egg Phoenix's main ability was being able to engulf itself in fire without its exterior or internal components melting. It could also shoot fire out from underneath its feet to strike ground enemies, and was also equipped with missiles. (StH: #198)
