Summary[]

Story One[]

"Southern Crossover" - Part Three

While recuperating in the Great Crater, Tails draws another page of "Tails to Astonish". Athair assures him that the page is fine and takes him to the statues of the Ancient Walkers, telling him about the origins of the Echidnas and Angel Island. He explains that the Great Crater was created when Angel Island rose to avoid the White Comet. He begins to talk about his family, but realizes there's no time to talk about that. Tails decides to rush ahead and get back to his mission. Athair begs him to wait, saying the Ancient Walkers wish to commune. Tails scoffs at the statues, only for them to come to life and seize him.

Back at Crocobot's headquarters, the supply blimp is ready to dock, Dr. Robotnik is still monitoring Crocobot's progress, and the Downunda Freedom Fighters are still trying to rescue Wombat Stu. To deal with the freedom fighters, Crocbot unleashes the CD-ROM Ram. Meanwhile, the Ancient Walkers channel through Tails to explain the history of Mobius. They recount the Coming of the Chaos Emeralds, the birth of Enerjak, and foretell The Great Harmony. Tails wakes from the trance to find himself healed, just in time to catch the falling Barby Koala, who had been bucked all the way to the Great Crater by CD-ROM Ram. Tails flies her back to Crocobot's HQ. There, Walt Wallabee has grown frustrated with their lack of progress against the ram and unleashes his explosive bomberangs on it, destroying the 'bot. Meanwhile, Crocbot gets blindsided by Tails and Barby, causing the mooring arm he was using to anchor the blimp to swing wildly, making the blimp crash. On the ground, Walt, Bill and Guru Emu watch it burn in shock.

Crocbot escapes while Barby is freeing Wombat Stu in his nuclear-powered Mega Mecha Tank, but even Guru Emu has had enough and he and Tails take off after the underboss, Guru armed with another of Walt's explosive bomberangs. The bomberang blows out one of the tank's treads, sending it and Crocobot into the Great Crater, the resulting nuclear cloud taking the form of Athair's smiling head. At the beach, Tails turns down the offer to join the Downunda Freedom Fighters, lamenting his inability to return to Knothole and stating his anger toward his friends once as they were keeping him safe out of love. However, Ray and Bottlenose arrive with a fixed Sea Fox for him. Delighted, Tails says goodbye to his new friends, vowing to tell the Knothole Freedom Fighters about them and that together they will bring down Robotnik's regime.
