Archie Sonic the Hedgehog Issue 84 was the eighty-fourth issue of the main Sonic the Hedgehog comic series.
- "Perfect Chaos"
Deep inside the Mysterious Cat Country, Julie-Su, Vector, Espio and Mighty are about to watch Locke facing the Cat Queen's champion Razorklaw in battle. Locke removing his lab coat tries to convince the Cat Queen to stop this and discuss their differences more rationally. The Cat Queen refuses and announces the combat to begin. Fighting Razorklaw, Locke finishes Razorklaw off with a powerful punch. The Cat Queen angry with the outcome, Locke asks if they can finally sit down and talk.
Meanwhile in Station Square, Super Sonic is knocked back by Perfect Chaos in their battle. As Super Sonic fights back against Perfect Chaos, Knuckles and Bunnie begin clearing the citizens from the wreckage of the battle. Unfortunately, Antoine is struck by a rock on his shin. Knuckles runs and helps get Antoine to safety, and then glides off the help Super Sonic, by short circuiting Perfect Chaos (told by Tikal). Super Sonic brags that he's not going down, is hit by Perfect Chaos into a building.
In the Cat Country, Locke explains to the queen that he did not come for war, but the Cat Queen argues that past experiences may differ to that and shows Locke the Echidnas and their history.
Knuckles lands at the power plant, but discovers that the entire place has been flooded. Taking a brave move, Knuckles dives into the water. Meanwhile, Super Sonic recovers from Perfect Chaos and realizes that he appears dazed. Super Sonic begins to run away from Perfect Chaos and taunts him into chasing him. Super Sonic flies across the water, in which Sally appears and gives him a copper pipe. She also tells him that Knuckles is at the power plant. Super Sonic flies past them, and Tails luckily grabs Sally before Perfect Chaos comes through. Super Sonic races to the power plant with Perfect Chaos right behind. Knuckles resurfaces from the water to find everything disconnected and out of position. Sally lands with Tails on a nearby building and shouts to Super Sonic that its dangerous if the plant goes online around him. Super Sonic activates his shield to protect him. Knuckles underwater attempts to lift up a piece of machinery. Seemingly possible, some of his chaos powers activate and he manages to lift it up. Super Sonic flies away just as the generators reactivate and Perfect Chaos reverts back to Chaos.
Sonic back to normal fishes Knuckles out of the water to a nearby building. A bright light then appears and Tikal returns and takes Chaos back to their zone. Knuckles says his goodbyes to the Freedom Fighters and heads back to restore the Floating Island with the chaos shards.
- "Bridge Over Troubled Waters"
Knuckles uses the Guiding Star Gem and glides over the Floating Island. Sabre, Spectre, Thunderhawk and Sojourner signal him and Knuckles gives them the emerald shards. They then show Knuckles a new chamber for the restored Master Emerald, that will better harness its powers and return the island to normal. Upon restoring the island, Thunderhawk takes Knuckles to the Mysterious Cat Country. He is then reunited by Julie-Su, Vector, Espio and Mighty all excited to see him. Locke also welcomes him and shows him the ruins of the Echidnas and the Cats. Locke shows that the Echidna in the statue resembles Pachacamac of the Knuckles Clan. He tells that Pachacamac led the warrior faction of the family against the cats and the scholars and laborers rejected him and his followers. The Cat Queen formally apologizes for capturing his friends and judging them too harshly. Locke and Knuckles, along with the Chaotix return to the Floating Island.
