Summary
Story One
- "Saturday Night's Alright for a Fight!" - Part Two
Faced with the amnesiac Sonic, Sally decides to try finding out what's happened to him since he left Knothole. The Hedgehog then attacks Rotor, easily taking him down before going after Sally, whose fighting skills make her more of a challenge. Tails and Bunnie come running, and are stunned to see the pair fighting; Bunnie quickly rushes in to help Sally. She, Sally, and Tails restrain their friend, but he uses his speed to escape and send the trio flying, knocking out the girls. Tails manages to take flight, but is quickly taken down as Sonic hits him with a Spin-Dash. With most of the Freedom Fighters down and out, Robotnik and Snively are pleased, but not satisfied-their intention is to send their Demolition Tractors to Sonic's location and level Knothole. Their only problem is that the Freedom Fighters have a jamming signal in place that's disrupting the signal from the homing beacon that he placed on Sonic.
Robotnik is then horrified as they lose the signal completely, while Sonic is surprised as the lights go out on him. The culprits are Antoine and four future members of the Substitute Freedom Fighters, whom he leads in a charge against Sonic. Unfortunately, Sonic is too fast even in the dark for the group, and quickly downs Hamlin, Antoine, Penelope, and Arlo. However, he is then knocked out by a tackle from Dylan, and wakes up some time later with his memory restored. Rotor then discovers Robotnik's bug, and Sonic quickly snatches it and sets out to make up for-albiet unintentionally-almost leading Robotnik to Knothole. Back in Robotropolis, Robotnik fears that Sonic has been lost, and is ready to deploy the demolition tractors and hope for the best. To his surprise, Sonic emerges from the tree stump entrance, and Snively detects the still active transmitter. The tractors are sent after Sonic, who leads them towards a nearby cliff-only to find the other Freedom Fighters waiting for him, Tails having monitored his movements and those of the tractors. To Robotnik's horror, the tractors go over the edge of the cliff and explode; the Freedom Fighters are thus hopeful that Robotnik believes that they led him down a decoy tunnel.
Sonic then apologizes for his actions, but Sally holds nothing against him due to his amnesia, though she's certainly sore from their confrontation. Back in Robotropolis, Robotnik agonizes over the fact that even after losing his memory, Sonic has succeeded in humiliating and defeating him. Snively tries to console him, pointing out that Sonic may have regained his memory, but perhaps won't remember his success against Robotnik.
Story Two
- "Growing Pains" - Part One
Following the events of Sonic's amnesia, Sonic is following an irate Tails, trying to explain to him that he only attacked Tails because of Robotnik's deception. The young Fox doesn't care for Sonic's explanations, having grown tired of the other Freedom Fighters treating him like a child instead of an equal. He heads for his Sea Fox sub, deciding that he's had it with the Freedom Fighters and determining to go out on his own. Unbeknownst to him, his departure is observed by Robotnik, who installed a camera in a tree near the dock where the Sea Fox was kept. Robotnik decides to take advantage of Tails' lone excursion by deploying a leftover Auto Automaton, with which he hopes to set in motion a scheme that will bring down the Freedom Fighters. Some time later, Tails comes across an island that doesn't appear on his maps, when he hears a voice crying for help. He flies up to locate the unfortunate-and falls head over heels in love.
The damsel in distress introduces herself as Fiona Fox, whom Tails unties-and who quickly seems to reciprocate his attraction for her. The two share a kiss, go frolicking along the beach, carve their initials into a tree, share a coconut milk drink, and then kiss again as the sun sets. Robotnik, observing these events, is disgusted, and determines that the time has come to spring his trap. "Fiona" then directs Tails into her den, which turns out to be the entrance to a Roboticizer, the door of which Robotnik slams shut behind him. Tails watches in horror as his new girlfriend is revealed to be an Auto Automaton, who was programmed to lure Tails into the Roboticizer. Adding to the trauma, Robotnik has Fiona activate the device, leaving Tails apparently doomed to join his girlfriend as a robot.
