Archie Sonic the Hedgehog Issue 150 was the one hundred and fiftieth issue of the main Sonic the Hedgehog comic series.

Summary[]

Story One[]

"Hero to Zero in No Time At All"

In Knothole, Sonic the Hedgehog defeats one of Dr. Eggman's SWATbots by knocking it into a water fountain, short circuiting it. Ash scoffs, calling Sonic a showoff, but Amy jumps to Sonic's defense as they walk off alongside Mina Mongoose. Later, Sonic meets up with Mina and invites her to walk down by the creek with him, telling her to forget about Ash for a while.

Meanwhile in Station Square, Nack the Weasel and his agent have a loud conversation at a local restaurant about the possibly of stealing several Chaos Emeralds on Angel Island. Rouge the Bat, overhearing the conversation, decides to go after the emerald stash herself. Sonic spends some quality time with Mina, but she has second thoughts about cheating on Ash and leaves. Amy Rose walks by when Sonic suddenly starts flirting with her. Later that afternoon, Tails heads out to look for Sonic and finds him making out with Bunnie Rabbot. Tails runs off in a huff and Bunnie asks Sonic if he should console Tails, but Sonic thinks he'll get over it. Several hours later, Bunnie and Sonic go their separate ways and head home for the night. Sonic, who is actually Anti-Sonic, thinks back on how he swapped Antoine with Patch while Sonic was in space. Seeing Patch turn his situation into a beneficial one, Anti-Sonic decided to head to Mobius himself and switch places with his own counterpart.

Rouge arrives in Echidnaopolis and, deciding that she needs to find someone to guide her around the place, asks Locke for help. They go on a leisurely stroll through the woods, flirting while trying to get information out of each other. Locke gets suspicious when Rouge figures out that he's the Guardian of the island, but before they can discuss things further Rouge suddenly disappears. Realizing that she was teleported away, Locke angrily complains at Archimedes, trying to explain that he was just trying to get information. Archimedes rebuffs him, reminding Locke of his poor history of dealing with women and demanding that he get back to his duties. Rouge, now in Knothole, figures that Locke must have figured out her plans. She determines that she'll need a decoy to distract Locke just as Anti-Sonic arrives, hoping to make a move on her.

Story Two[]

"The Chosen One" - Part Two

With Sonic, Zonic, and Tails facing a room full of alternate reality versions of Tails, the group is forced to quickly figure out which Tails is the Chosen One. The group of alternate Tails "debate" the issue, crowding around Sonic and Zonic, while Tails himself slips out of the room to deal with Mammoth Mogul on his own.

Seeing that Master Mogul has easily defeated the Zone Cops, Tails tries to distract the demigod. Mogul, realizing who Tails is, attempts to blast him to smithereens. Sonic dashes by and picks Tails up in the nick of time. Tails argues that the blast could have given him the energy to turn into Turbo Tails, but Sonic argues that Mogul is too strong for them to fight head-on. Tails and Sonic get Moguls attention and trick him into breaking open the building holding all the alternate versions of Tails. They attack Master Mogul and are easily swatted away. Sonic tries to move them out of Mogul's blast range but falls victim to an energy blast himself.

Tails, outraged by Sonic's apparent death, is contacted by Athair. Athair explains that the moment of his destiny is at hand. Tails merges with all of his alternate selves to become Titan Tails and engages in a laser battle with Master Mogul. Tails uses his new power to drain the chaos energy out of Mogul, defeating him. Sonic wakes up, and Zonic explains that Titan Tails is now the decisivepower in the multiverse. With a bright gold flash everything fades.

When Sonic comes back to his senses, he's back in Knothole playing tag with Tails. Merlin and Athair watch from a distance. Athair is impressed that, having all of the power in the world at his command, Tails simply returned everything to how it was. Merlin notes that there has been one small change and pulls a Chaos Emerald from his cloak. The Chaos Emerald is the very same one that had been lodged in Mogul's chest, and Mogul himself now sleeps inside.

Quotes[]

  • Anti-Sonic: "Shocking. Positively shocking"

  • Ash: "What a showoff! Just like he always is!"
  • Amy Rose: "You're just jealous cause Sonic's the bomb and you're not!"

  • Locke: "Why don't you tell me all about it, then? It's been a while since I've heard a good story!"
  • Rouge: "You'll love this one, then. It's a doozy!"

(One cooked-up potboiler later...)

  • Rouge: "--and that's it, really."

Key Events[]

  • Anti-Sonic replaces Sonic on Mobius.
  • It is revealed that Antoine was replaced by his evil counterpart Patch before StH #130.
  • Rouge finds out about a rumored stash of Chaos Emeralds on Angel Island.
  • Tails merges with his other forms from other universes to become Titan Tails.
  • Master Mogul is defeated by Titan Tails.

Background Information[]

  • This is the series' sixth milestone issue.

Cameos & References[]

  • Anti-Sonic's quote, "Shocking. Positively shocking," is a nod to the James Bond film Goldfinger, where Sean Connery says the exact same line after electrocuting an assassin.
  • Another one of his quotes, "Don'cha just love it when a plan comes together?" is a reference to The A-Team. It was Hannibal's catch phrase.
  • One of the many alternate versions of Tails featured in "The Chosen One" - Part Two is a parody of Neo from the Matrix film franchise, another character known as "The Chosen One".
  • Upon finding the alternate versions of Tails, Master Mogul comments that "This is truly a Night of a Thousand Tails." This is both a reference to a similar story from StH #19, "Night of a Thousand Sonics", as well as one of the many names for the One Thousand and One Nights. Mogul also name drops the Giant Borg from issue 19.
  • Genius Tails' 300 IQ is a reference to the attack IQ 300, which the fox uses in Sonic Battle.
