Archie Sonic the Hedgehog Issue 126 was the one hundred and twenty-sixth issue of the main Sonic the Hedgehog comic series.

Story OneEdit

"Tossed in Space" Parts 1 and 2: "Red Chaos" and "Hog & Superhog"

Part 1: Continuing the events from last issue...Sonic succeeded in destroying the Quantum Dial and made the sacrifice. On Mobius everyone believes he is dead, but in reality Sonic has been propelled to a far and distant galaxy...

Sonic asleep on the surface of an unknown planet, he is sucked up into a mysterious vessel by the Blodex. Sonic wakes up, and can't understand the Blodex language. Sonic runs away thinking he's in danger and goes over his thoughts from before. Suddenly, the Blodex are attacked by the Bzzzz. During their fight, Sonic escapes from the vessel, but decides to go back and destroys the invader Bzzzz. Sonic thinking he's going to be "brunch", the Blodex access his thoughts and communicate English with Sonic in his mind.

The Blodex take him to their leaders, in which they tell him he's on the planet Thoraxia and they've never heard of Mobius. One of the leaders explains that they are incapable of air or space travel and their mortal enemies, the Bzzzz think they are the only ones to fly and live. The leader tells him that a D'Novulan trading vessel will arrive tomorrow that will increase his chances of getting home. Deeble escorts him around the city and he takes Sonic to the heroic statue of Aypex. Sonic shocked that the statue is holding Red Chaos Emeralds instead of Green ones. Deeble invites Sonic to become their new defender, now that the Bzzzz are back, Sonic declines that he has to get back to Mobius for his loved ones, and probably because they think he's dead.

Later, long after Deeble's tour, Sonic goes over his thoughts about how he'll return to Mobius, when the Bzzzz begin their final assault with the Bzzzz Queen. The Queen's stinger melt down one of the buildings, leading the Blodex panicing. Sonic realises he has to do something, and thinks that if he absorbs the Chaos Emeralds, he'll transform into Super Sonic. Seconds later, Super Sonic appears in the city and destroys all the Bzzzz, including their queen with the power of Red Chaos. Super Sonic lands on the queen's dead body as Sonic sees Super Sonic and "wasn't expecting that to happen!"

Part 2:

Sonic is shocked that instead of transforming into Super Sonic, Super Sonic transformed into a separate entity. Super Sonic begins to destroy everything in sight, and Sonic helps the Blodex by saving them from the rubble. Super Sonic flies away from the city and Sonic runs after him.

Minutes later, miles from the alien city, Sonic confronts Super Sonic and asks why he's destroying things if he's the good guy. Super Sonic laughs at Sonic's mark and doesn't believe in good or evil, only power. Super Sonic prepares to power up and destroy the world's moons to jump start global chaos. Sonic zooms into Super Sonic, blocking his aim and he misses the moons. Super Sonic kicks Sonic into a boulder and begins to quickly punch Sonic. Super Sonic ready to put Sonic out of his misery, dematerialises into the sky. Sonic happy that Super Sonic's existence is only temperorary at best. Sonic walks back to the city, hoping that he never faces that side of himself again.

"Better Read Than Dead"

This story follows Sonic and the Editor in battle with Deadline.

Background InformationEdit

• It is discovered that there might be a relationship between those different emeralds on Mobius and Thoraxia, and that the Chaos Emeralds are not necessarily limited to Mobius.
• The idea of Super Sonic appearing as a seperate life form from his normal self, is similar to a plot point used in the British Sonic the Comic series, where for several issues, Super Sonic had used Chaos energy to mantain his own physical form seperate from the real Sonic. Interestingly, the Super Sonic that appeared in this issue was evil, just like his British counterpart.
• The idea that some red crystal seperating a powerful superhero into two selves is reminiscent to Superman with "red kryptonite"
• The second story is a 5-page Off-Panel story. Therefore, its non-canon.
• On the cover, Super Sonic appears to be wearing Sonic's SOAP Shoes, the footwear that Sonic sported in the game Sonic Adventure 2.
• Having another set of Chaos Emeralds might be a reference to Dragon Ball Z, much like how planet Earth and Namek have their own sets of Dragon Balls. Mobius and Thoraxia have their own sets of Chaos Emeralds.
