Archie Sonic X Issue 38 was the thirty-eighth issue of the spin-off Sonic X comic series.
S.O.N.I.C.X.-the secret Sonic-hating organization-is at it again! They have a special serum that will turn Sonic into the monster they think he "really is." The problem now is: how do you catch the fastest thing alive?! It's a high-speed chase through the city with a special guest appearance by the Chaotix and an ending so big you won't believe it!
- "Big Trouble in Little Station Square!" - Part One
The scene opens on the Organizer of S.O.N.I.C.X. in communication with other the members of S.O.N.I.C.X. The Organizer is losing his patience because S.O.N.I.C.X. can't stop Sonic when they are united. He also hates the fact that the group sounds like a fan club. He goes over the previous missions involving capturing Sonic, but he got away and Hector Dragg being unable to kidnap the President. Doctor Narasu wants his say, but the Organizer points out his clones being very costly. Narasu plans to use a highly viral mutagen, to transform Sonic to the monster that the organisation sees him as. The Organiser sees this as a promising opportunity and orders Hector to help accomplish the mission.
Later, Hector and Narasu head to the docks were Sonic is fighting Doctor Eggman and his robot squid. Realising Sonic is too fast to shoot at, he plans to use the fight as a distraction to shoot him. Only having enough mutagen for 6 shots, Narasu hits 4 shots of the mutagen. Sonic is never touched and manages to destroy Doctor Eggman's robot squid. After Doctor Eggman's defeat, Sonic runs away only to be chased by Hector and Dr Narasu on a motorbike. After another shot, Sonic dodges it. Sonic then runs the opposite direction away from S.O.N.I.C.X. Hector is thrilled that he managed to pass Sonic, but is told off by Narasu for losing Sonic.
Shortly at the gas station, Narasu is furious at Hector for losing Sonic. Hector says that he never wanted revenge, but wanted to prove himself as the 'fastest man alive'. Hector also points out that Doctor Narasu thought Sonic was a robot. Narasu yells at Hector that before Sonic came, there was no proof of anyone being that fast. Both spot Sonic heading back into the city, ready to shoot the last dart at him.
Sonic arrives at the Chaotix detective agency, wanting to find out what S.O.N.I.C.X. is up to. Charmy answers the door while Vector sleeps and Espio meditates. Vector tries to cover up sleeping, but Sonic isn't interested. Sonic asks them to find out about S.O.N.I.C.X.'s new plans. Vector takes the case and Charmy flies around happily.
Outside, Narasu aims for Sonic, and fires. Charmy flies in front of Sonic and the dart bounces off his helmet, hits a filing cabinet and is deflected by Espio. Sonic heads out as Vector appears sick. Espio, glad that no one got hurt, notices Vector acting funny. Charmy spots the dart in Vector's tail. Sonic pins both Hector and Narasu to a wall outside the house, wanting to know what they're up to. A nearby rumble answers Sonic's question as Vector grows out of the Chaotix Detective Agency roaring.
- Doctor Narasu: With this! *pulls out a test tube with purple liquid
- Jerome Wise: With grape juice?
- Sonic: Hey, Eggman! Aren't squids supposed to have EIGHT arms?
- Dr Eggman: Silence! Don't tell me how to build my devices of doom!
- Vector: We'll take the case!
- Charmy: YAY! We've got a case!
- Espio: Chill out, Charmy!
- The story's title is likely inspired by the title of the 1986 martial arts movie "Big Trouble in Little China".
