Summary
Story One
- "Dark Vengeance" Part Two of Three: "The Gauntlet"
The story begins with Knuckles contemplating his thoughts about what has occured being with his family, friends and fighting enemies and having to fight the most dangerous being, Enerjak. He is teleported to the moon orbiting Mobius by Enerjak. Enerjak tells him that he is going to break Knuckles to make him pay for what he did. Knuckles remembers the last encounter they had (KMS: #3) and how he won against him. Angered by his confidence, Enerjak uses his powers and teleports them to the deepest depths of the ocean. He watches amused as Knuckles starts sinking into reality and struggling to breathe.
Meanwhile, Julie-Su arrives at the Dark Legion camp to Kragok who asks about what activities she has done. She tells him that she was with the Guardian for the majority, but only to find a way of finding her group. Kragok accepts her word, but warns her what is at stake if she is lying. Julie-Su explores the base meeting with Sergeant Rykor to resume her position. Meanwhile, Lara-Le meets with Remington to ask a favour from him to help her contact Locke . She also states that she wants to contact him for Knuckles' sake. Remington contemplates his thoughts that his predecessor Holmes warned him about being personally involved with the Guardians and wonders if he should give her the information.
At the bottom of the sea, Knuckles refuses to give in to Enerjak and swims back towards the surface. He is about to make it when he is grabbed by a tentacle of a large sea monster while Enerjak enjoys watching Knuckles struggle. In Haven, Locke wakes up from his sleep to Sabre explaining that Hawking remains in his coma. Suddenly the alarm goes off and Sabre and Locke rush to the monitoring station to see the Dark Legion's preparations. Both of them recognise Julie-Su working with them and no sign of Knuckles. They realize that the Dark Legion are about to strike Echidnaopolis and prepare to fight back.
Meanwhile, Knuckles manages to escape from the monster's hold and inhales air upon reaching the surface to find Enerjak floating over the sea. He hopes that Knuckles begins to beg for mercy, but Knuckles refuses again. At the Dark Legion camp; Espio, Mighty and Vector are revealed to be held hostage and notice Julie-Su working for the Dark Legion. They are approached by a Dark Legion member and Vector takes him out in hopes to escape, but Julie-Su strikes and knocks them out using gas. Kragok is revealed to have been watching and congratulates her but orders her to finish them off. Meanwhile, Knuckles is teleported by Enerjak into the stratosphere and forces Knuckles to fall from the high altitude. At their camp, the Dark Legion led by Kragok take the captured Archimedes and Deo Volente and bury them underground sealed away to stop them escaping. Both of them begin planning a way to escape, being unable to teleport through because of the electromagnet field.
Meanwhile, Knuckles is about to fall onto a large hunk of rocks when Enerjak appears before Knuckles makes contact. He gives him one last chance to submit to him, but Knuckles refuses and clambers back onto the surface. Enerjak angered uses his powers and begins tearing Knuckles' molecules apart to destroy him completely.
