Summary[]

Story One[]

The Forbidden Zone: Part Two of Three - "Once Upon a Time in Mobotropolis"

Several years ago, Locke noticed Lara-Le packing her things and asked he if she wanted to talk. Lara told him that he never listens and plans on leaving with Knuckles. Locke explains that he can't force her to stay, but Knuckles can't go with her. In the present, Lara-Le and Locke bicker before sharing a kiss.

At the Royal Compound, Elias introduces himself to the Royal Secret Service and is surprised to hear his father -- King Acorn -- is alive and well. Geoffrey is confused, as his liege had only sent them to find out about the queen and never mentioned having a son. Colonel Sommersby vouches for Elias, claiming that he is the true heir of the House of Acorn. Geoffrey still isn't convinced, coaxing Elias to invite them to Haven the next morning to sort things out.

Day Two of the Royal Secret Service's mission: On the Echidna Security Team craft transporting Constable Remington, Wynmacher, Knuckles and Julie-Su to Lara-Le's hovercraft, Remington tells Knuckles to stay inside while his team secures the area. Knuckles suggests they shelve their plan so he can check the vessel himself. Remington and Julie-Su try to convince Knuckles to listen to reason, but he ignores them and explores the abandoned crash site.

Meanwhile, Locke escorts Lara-Le back to Haven. Lara-Le thinks back to how Locke left her, abruptly telling her that he was taking Knuckles to the Floating Island to begin his training. Locke explained that he was needed in Haven and had to oversee Knuckles' growth into a proper Guardian, but Lara-Le was confused and could only ask why he never told her about these things. In the present, Locke approaches Haven but is surprised when his ship doesn't receive the facility's guiding beacon.

At the Royal Compound, Elias shows Geoffrey the Homing Rod, a device the king gave to his mother in case of emergencies. Geoffery asks where he got it, prompting Elias to answer that an echidna called Sabre gave it to him. Geoffrey and Elias enjoy a breakfast cooked by Mrs. Sommersby, but the homing rod catches the Colonel's attention. Sommersby recalls the mission during the Great War where he and Ian St. John were to escort the queen to the Royal Compound.

St. John tasked Sommersby with securing an escape pod for Prince Elias, explaining that their vessel was a big enough target with the queen aboard despite the prince and princess' existence being a secret. The Overlanders attacked the queen's vessel, and Sommersby ejected the prince in his pod. The plane crashed, and when Sommersby awoke he couldn't find a trace of the other passengers. He met Elias outside the Compound years later, recognizing him by he star birthmark on his forearm. Geoffrey demands to know how Elias survived alone, but Elias explains that he refuses to break his oath of secrecy to the Brotherhood and will instead let the Brotherhood itself decide what it wishes to tell them.

Meanwhile, the Echidna Security Team's craft takes off from the crash site. Knuckles is suspicious of Remington and accuses him of knowing more than he lets on. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning strikes the vessel. In Locke's craft, Lara-Le explains to Locke that the change of weather could be what the Tomes call a Day of Fury. She berates his lack of faith while Locke's scanner picks up on something nearby. Lara-Le tells him she wanted to discuss Knuckles and lousy job he did at being a parent. Locke tells her they have more serious business on their hands, pointing her attention to Elias and the Secret Service holding desperately to the nearby trees as a torrential flood sweeps over them. Elias tells Geoffrey that his Homing Rod is responsible for the approaching hovercraft, but Geoffrey is still a bit skeptical.

Knuckles regains consciousness and checks the hovercraft for damage outside. He is shocked to find himself at the location where his father jumped into a wall of fire and left him. He moves forward, reaching a barrier and teleporting to Haven, surrounded by Sabre, Thunderhawk, Sojourner, Spectre, Archimedes and "Tobor".
