Archie Comics Publications (known more simply as Archie Comics) is an American comic book . Originally founded in November 1939 as MLJ Magazines, the company is best known for its comedic, slice of life stories surrounding various characters, including its namesake teenage character, Archie Andrews.
As well as their own in-house characters, the company has also published licensed comic book series based on other franchises, the most notable being the Archie Sonic the Hedgehog comics and its various spin-offs, under license by SEGA since 1992. The Sonic titles are currently published under Archie's Archie Action Series imprint.
